Available Position: Project Engineer
Location: Washington DC.
JOB DUTIES: Work under the direction of the Project Manager, coordinating and exercising functional authority for the planning, organization, integration and completion of projects; assist in developing effective plans for constructing the project and provide input to determine means and methods necessary to meet project goals; provide and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical information for the project team, subcontractors, vendors and consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design details; research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and work with owner and others to resolve issues; prepare requests for information (RFI’s); review and submit all shop drawings, design drawings, calculations, and technical data for accuracy and conformances to specifications and constructability; maintain conformed set of Contract documents for project; work with a Project Manager and Purchasing Department to ensure that all required purchase orders and subcontractors are finalized in a timely and cost effective manner; identify, order, and coordinate delivery of permanent materials such as pipe, stone, reinforcing steel, beams, etc.; support and enforce Milani Construction Safety Program, including coordination of project activities to ensure compliance with all government regulatory guidelines; communicate the planned means and methods to appropriate parties associated with the project to ensure understanding of goals and responsibilities; work with Project Manager and Superintendents to ensure the construction means and methods employed will maximize production, ensure quality, minimize costs and promote safety; develop, update and maintain project 3 week schedules with project team; and ensure that all means and methods are in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and with all contract provisions. Position requires 25% local travel to job/project sites.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related field.
SPECIAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to utilize the Critical Path Method (CPM) and appropriate software packages to develop a project schedule; knowledge of common project delivery systems and principles of project financing; familiarity with different types of construction contracts and ability to calculate and resolve claims; possess an “Engineer in Training” (EIT) Designation or a “Professional Engineer” (PE) Designation from any U.S. state or the District of Columbia. Any suitable combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.
